Design basis

Which sections it is built around

Each row names a paraphrased requirement and the section it comes from, in the 2015 edition text. Verify against the edition your jurisdiction adopted.

14.2.4.2.1Air source must not introduce toxic or flammable gases into the chamber atmosphere.
14.2.4.2.2Intake sited away from vehicle, engine, and building exhaust. Intake placement is part of the install survey, not an afterthought.
14.2.4.2.4Where an oil-lubricated compressor is used, an air treatment package with automatic safeguards is required. Configured accordingly.
14.2.4.2.5Redundancy: two or more compressors able to hold required flow with any one out of service, on separate branch circuits. Quoted as a redundant pair where the installation calls for it.
14.2.9.6.1Six-month air sampling interval, plus after major compressor repair or modification. Sampling ports and a service interval are part of the handover.
14.2.9.6.2–.3CGA Grade E minimum; for Class B chambers, Grade E with the additional limit of no condensable hydrocarbons.
14.2.4.4.1Class B minimum ventilation rate of 1 ft³/min supported at the chamber's rated operating pressure.
14.2.10.2Exhaust piped outside the building, independent line per Class B chamber, screened and signed discharge point that does not permit reentry.
14.2.10.3Particulate filtration on supply piping — 66 microns or finer where cylinder or portable container supply is present.

Boundaries

What OxySafe does not do

This matters more than the feature list, because the honest version is what you can plan around.

It does not make you compliant

No product can. Chapter 14 covers the chamber, the room housing it, the gas supply, the electrical installation, staffing, administration and drills. Compliance is judged on the whole installation and program by your AHJ, against the edition your jurisdiction adopted.

It is not NFPA certified or approved

Nothing is. NFPA writes consensus codes; it does not certify, approve, or list products, and it has not reviewed or endorsed this system or this site. Any vendor claiming an "NFPA approved" chamber product is describing something that does not exist.

It does not address the chamber vessel itself

Chapter 14 points to ASME PVHO-1 for chambers for human occupancy. If your chamber was not designed and fabricated to PVHO-1, an air supply system does not resolve that, and we will tell you so rather than sell around it.

It is not a fire suppression system

Housing requirements including sprinkler provisions for the room are separate sections and separate scope of work. We can tell you what they say; we are not representing this system as satisfying them.

It does not hold your chamber below 23.5%

We used to imply this. It was wrong twice over: there is no such Chapter 14 limit, and single-occupant Class B chambers commonly run well above 23.5% by design. The correction in full.

It makes no therapeutic claim

This is gas-handling equipment. Nothing here claims a health outcome, and we are not the right people to ask about one. Cited research, not medical advice.

How an order actually runs

Chamber and site details

Make and model, occupancy class, rated pressure, whether it runs on air or with supplemental oxygen, where it sits, and where an intake and an exhaust run could plausibly go.

Configuration and quote

The system is built to order for that chamber. Configuration is confirmed with you before fulfillment. Base price is $4,000 plus $100 shipping; redundant configurations and exhaust runs are quoted on the specifics.

Install or ship

We install in most of the continental US through our technician network, or ship with documentation if your own contractor is doing the work.

Sampling on a schedule

Air sampling at the six-month interval the code names, plus after any major compressor repair or modification. Results documented so you have something to hand an inspector.
